Austrian EPTA Presidency 2016
On 1 January Austria took over the EPTA presidency for the year 2016.
The Institute of Technology Assessment (ITA) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences has been an active, but only associate member for many years. Recently, the Austrian Parliament showed a renewed interest in technology assessment, sollicited two studies, and Austrian MPs took part in various international TA events, in particular in EPTA Council meetings. When the ITA finally became a full member of EPTA in 2013, EPTA partners invited ITA to take over the presidency as soon as possible. After two very successful years directed by the Norwegians and the French TA institutions, it is now Austria's turn to organise a year of networking, conferencing and contributing to parliamentary work around Europe and beyond.
