The spread of antibiotic resistance and new options for combating it

The project assesses the causes, impacts and policy implications of bacterial antibiotic resistance, one of the major global health challenges. Adopting a One Health perspective, it analyses the role of antibiotic use in human medicine, agriculture and environmental pathways in the emergence and spread of resistance. Furthermore, the study examines new biotechnological and pharmaceutical options to combat bacterial AMR, including novel antibiotics, alternative therapies and innovative diagnostics. The project aims to identify effective measures and policy options for addressing antibiotic resistance and safeguarding public health in the long term.
