Geopolitics and science policy
Geopolitical unrest raises questions about how to steer, fund and organise science systems. The Rathenau Instituut started a new project on the effects of increased geopolitical unrest on science policy. In this project we start with mapping the effects of geopolitical issues on research policy, research agendas and research funding in the Netherlands and Europe. Together with policymakers, funders and researchers, we will investigate which normative choices and considerations come into play, and how the Dutch science system can be strengthened and mobilised in a responsible way to contribute to strategic autonomy and national security.
