Digitalisation influences how people create, share and perceive art and culture. Creative artists, their works and the public have always been in constant interaction with new technologies. The use of digital applications, virtual spaces and global communication networks enables new forms of creativity. The way in which different artistic professional groups can and wish to utilise such digital opportunities depends on structural factors, but also on personal preferences.
The three sub-studies therefore focus on the opportunities and challenges that cultural professionals face in their daily dealings with digitalisation. How important do the mastery of a craft, human uniqueness and authenticity remain in times of widely accessible generative artificial intelligence? How is digitalisation shaping the societal, social and legal status of the creative profession and artworks? The authors offer well-founded guidance on these and other questions and point out possible courses of action.
