Precise and targeted editing of the epigenome

Print
Scientists are looking for ways to precisely edit the epigenome, the operating system of our genetic material (DNA), at specific locations. In the future, this could lead to new medicines and biotechnologies, for example to stay healthy longer and improve crops. But how do we ensure that this technology is developed in a socially responsible manner? Epi-Guide-Edit, a consortium of Dutch research institutes including the Rathenau Institute, is investigating the scientific and societal aspects of targeted editing of the epigenome.
