Distrust in Science Due to the Web
Many opinion and policy makers assume that the use of social media and the spread of misinformation via these media leads to a growing distrust in science and scientists. At the same time, survey studies show that public trust in science in the Netherlands is quite high. In 2024, we will engage in conversations with Dutch citizens about factors influencing their trust in science. Where does distrust in science come from? Does the use of social media and misinformation about science and scientists play a role?
