The paper looks at selected issues related to unintentional injuries and their consequences for the Polish healthcare system. The authors examine data on injuries in Poland in comparison with other EU member states broken down by its number, type, fatality, agedistribution, gener distribution and other factors. Special attention is given to the costs of injuries and their impact on the healthcare system. The authors underline that the health sector is uniquely positioned to generate prevention efforts.
