New digital Swiss francs – a brief overview: Crypto currencies such as Bitcoin and the digitalisation of the monetary system in general are a focus of public concern and the subject of headline news. Specialists are examining options for the development of new forms of digital money that can be issued by central banks, commercial banks and private players. The study focuses on the following four variants of new digital Swiss francs: Tokenized deposits, Stablecoins, A form of central bank digital currency that would be issued by the Swiss National Bank (retail CBDC) and a stablecoin that would be covered through central bank money but issued by private players (synthetic CBDC).
