Legal possibilities to restrict access to pornography on the internet in the European Union
BAS (2019) Analizy BAS 1(149), Legal possibilities to restrict access to pornography on the internet in the European Union
The question whether and how to restrict access to pornography on the internet has been a subject of much debate. The task how to accord the protection of minors and morality with economic freedoms is challenging, especially given the lack of harmonisation in the definition of pornography and of the appropriate provisions in EU member states. The article presents different legal solutions in restricting access to online pornography in Poland, France and the United Kingdom and discusses the possibilities in the EU law, focusing on the protection of minors.
